We haven’t hit Halloween 2013, and yet the major color manufacturers and paint distributors have already selected ‘the’ colors for 2014. Faux Time Design is pleased with the selections. We see some old favorites as well as some new colors peaking around the bend. Pantone’s Top Ten colors for Spring 2014 begin with a dazzling blue and violet tulip. Paloma Picasso, a lovely gray, is noted as the ‘quintessential’ neutral relaying reassurance and confidence. Sherwin Williams also recently unveiled its colors for 2014 in a grand presentation called ‘Colormix 2014,’ grouping 38 key colors into four color palettes called Reasoned, Diaphanous, Curiosity and Intrinsic. In a press release, the Sherwin Williams pros explained, “Drawing influence from fashion, science, nature, pop culture and global traditions, Sherwin-Williams introduces Colormix™ 2014, which captures colors that inspire creativity and design in today’s world. Benjamin Moore also selected a color palette for 2014 identifying 23 colors that work well together. Looking to the home furnishings industry for inspiration, the Benjamin Moore team identified a softer palette with colors that “hints, whispers, tints of color.” Breathe of Fresh Air, a lovely soft blue, is the color of the year.
