Unveiling New Color for 2019

Last year, in the spirit of passion and voice that erupted the country, Ellen O’Neill, Director of Strategic Design Intelligence at Benjamin Moore – built a case for a single color, chosen from the brand’s palette of over 3,500 hues – for a bold, passionate hue – Caliente.

Much has changed since then. As society’s temperature raged, a desire for pause…a yearning for serenity and quietude transcended polarization and inspired the choice Metropolitan AF-690 as the Color of the Year for 2019. Expanding on the incredibly popular grey palettes, Metropolitan is an unpredictably welcome midtone; achieving versatility with multidimensional glamour through texture and reflection. This transformational and shifting grey, when applied in varying sheens, effectuates a serenity reminiscent of a soothing and restful retreat with overcast skies, frosted gardens and natural light symbolizing peace after the storm.

Next, we are thrilled to welcome the unveiling of Farrow & Ball’s addition of 9 new colors for 2019 and as usual they did not disappoint. Each is blended with only the richest pigments and finest quality for extraordinary depth of color.

Therefore, without further adieu, we give a hearty welcome to the new additions to their fabulous collection:

School House White, a soft off white; Treron – a dark grey-green; Jitney – a relaxed brown based neutral; Paean Black, a chic red-based black; Sulking Room Pink, a romantic and muted rose; Rangwali, an exotic and adventurous pink; Preference Red, a deep, rich red; Bancha – a Mid-Century Modern Green; and DeNimes, a down to earth and grounding blue.
